Become a Model in San Diego

San Diego is America’s Finest City. Like, that’s the City’s official nickname. You can look it up on Wikipedia.

If you grew up in the 90’s, or even the 2000’s, you’ll know that the word “finestcan certainly mean “best”, but it can also mean “the most physically attractive”.

When it comes to San Diego, we believe that both definitions can be applied. Not only is San Diego the “best” City in the U.S. for many reasons (its weather, medicine, education, military, beaches, food, beer and safety, to name just a few), but it also boasts the single-highest concentration of absolutely-gorgeous, or “fine”, young men and young ladies in the World.

OK, so you’ve checked yourself out in the mirror and you know that you’re good-to-go. It’s common sense that you should probably be physically attractive, in order to become a model. Your Instagram account might be getting more attention than you expected, or maybe you notice that you’re constantly getting lots of attention from the opposite or even the same sex. At some point, the idea popped into your head… “maybe I could become a model!”

As you played with the idea a little more, you began to wonder, “how do I become a model?” And if you’re a San Diegan, or plan to relocate to or go to college in San Diego, you are likely now asking, “how do I become a model in San Diego?”

Well, you have certainly come to the right place! 619Modeling.com is the San Diego division of a large, international, model & talent management Company that’s based in Los Angeles. 619 is the most iconic area code of San Diego, and modeling… well… we trust that you already know what modeling is.

Here’s our professional advice on how to become a model in San Diego:

1.) Get representation. It’s a jungle out there (in the fashion & entertainment industries). You need the guidance, connections and expertise of a modeling agency or model management Company in order to know which steps to take to become a model in San Diego (and – equally – which not to take). You need to know how to dress & present yourself during meetings with fashion designers, photographers, producers, etc.

Not to mention, how do you think these meetings get arranged? You do realize that companies like Vogue, Playboy, Victoria’s Secret, Lionsgate Films and Beach Bunny Swimwear aren’t posting ads on Craigslist, or Model Mayhem, or searching the millions of profiles on Instagram when they are looking for talent, right? As an aspiring model, the best you’re likely to find on those sites is a “TFP” (trade-for-print) shoot which might as well be called a “TP” (toilet paper) shoot, because that’s about what a TFP shoot’s going to be worth to you. (Our models “wipe their ass” with so-called “TFP” shoots, while raking in $75 – $225 or more an hour, frequently on their own schedule. Our models don’t do “trade-for-print”.)

2.) Get ready to work. No success in any industry comes without lots of hard work and effort, and that’s doubly-true in the most competitive industry in the world (yeah… this one). With the very limited exception of the Kardashians, nobody’s ever inherited a successful modeling career. Even with the best modeling agency or model management company helping you out, your career and success is still your responsibility. Take ownership of your brand, become passionate about your success, and – with your model agent or personal manager’s advisement & counsel – get to grinding! Whether in the gym or kitchen, online, or on set, it’s your job to to put in the work to become a model in San Diego.

3.) Be loyal. In our parent Company’s multiple decades in business, we have seen countless success stories created with our help. Many models that began their careers with us years ago are still earning a lucrative income in modeling today. We’ve found that models that achieve a high level of success in their modeling careers are those that possess the quality of loyalty, remaining loyal to those who initially invested in them, be it family or friends, talent managers, talent agents, or producers. Don’t forget who helped you out to become a model in San Diego, on your journey to the top!

4.) Be proud. Natural beauty is something that you were born with, but staying fit and maintaining a sexy body takes a lot of hard work and commitment. This is more true today than ever before. A model is an artist, and her canvas is her own body.

5.) Represent your City. This goes without saying. You live in America’s… Finest… City. OK? America’s FINEST!
